Don't upload confidential documents on the free tier. Why?

Plain text is the simplest format there is, which is exactly why it is easy to lose structure when you paste it into a translation box: blank lines disappear, lists merge into paragraphs and long files hit character limits. DropTranslate takes the whole file, translates it paragraph by paragraph and writes it back with the same line breaks. It is a good fit for notes, transcripts, exported chat logs, interview answers, plain-text emails and anything you would rather not paste into a box in pieces.

We count the words and show the cost: one credit per 500 words.

What changes, what stays

Translated

  • All the text, paragraph by paragraph

Kept as-is

  • Line breaks and blank lines
  • The order of paragraphs

Layout: Exact: structure kept

Text files have no formatting, so the structure is simply the lines and paragraphs. Those are kept as they are.

  • Fixed-width layouts, such as tables drawn with spaces, can shift when words change length. Use CSV or Excel for real tables.
  • Limits: 50 MB and 100,000 words per file.

Tips

  • Transcripts with timestamps on each line keep their timestamps; for video captions, an SRT or VTT file is the better format.
  • If the file uses Markdown symbols (#, *, links), upload it as .md so the markup is handled properly.

Not a certified translation

Machine translation, not a certified or sworn translation. If your document goes to an authority, check what it requires first.

Questions

Is there a length limit?

Up to 100,000 words or 50 MB per file. For longer texts, split the file into parts.

Will paragraphs stay separate?

Yes. Line breaks and blank lines are kept, so paragraphs and lists stay where they were.

How much does it cost?

One credit per 500 words, shown before you confirm. Your first 100 pages are free without an account.
