Translate a rental agreement
Read a lease in your own language before you sign: rent, deposit, notice period and house rules, clause by clause.
Don't upload confidential documents on the free tier. Why?
Renting a flat abroad often means signing a long lease in a language you are still learning, usually with little time to decide. Drop the PDF or Word version and DropTranslate gives you the whole agreement in your language with its numbering intact, so you can find the clauses that matter: rent and what it includes, the deposit, notice periods, repairs, pets, subletting and house rules. Use the translation to understand the offer and prepare your questions for the landlord or agent.
The original language is what you sign
A machine translation helps you understand the lease, but the version you sign is the one that counts, and local tenancy law may add rights and duties that aren't written in it. If you need a translation for an authority, for example to register an address or for a visa, it may require a certified translation. When in doubt, ask a local tenant advice service or a lawyer.
Certified, sworn or machine translation: which one do you need?
Good for
- Understanding the main terms of a lease before a viewing or signing
- Comparing two rental offers side by side
- Reading house rules and building regulations attached to the lease
Before you translate
- Check rent, deposit, fees and dates against the original.
- Look for the notice period and the conditions for getting the deposit back.
- Ask the landlord or agent about any clause you don't understand before signing.
- Tenant associations or advice services can often explain local rules.
Leases contain names, addresses and sometimes ID numbers. On the free tier the text may be used to train the AI provider's models, so remove personal details if you can.
Questions
Is the translation binding?
No. The lease in its original language is what you sign. The translation is to help you understand it.
The agent sent me photos of the lease. Can I translate them?
Not yet. Photo and scan support is planned. Ask the agent for the PDF or Word file, which they usually have.
How much does it cost?
One credit per page of up to 500 words. A typical lease is a few credits, shown before you confirm. Your first 100 pages are free.
